Iran offers to help Omani victims of Cyclone Gonu

TEHRAN, June 8 (MNA) -- Iran is prepared to provide assistance to those injured by Cyclone Gonu in Oman, Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki told his Omani counterpart Yussef bin Alawi bin Abdullah in a telephone conversation on Friday.

Cyclone Gonu killed 32 people in Oman and three people in Iran and caused significant damage in both countries.

 

Mottaki expressed sympathy for the cyclone victims and their families.

 

Bin Alawi also expressed his condolences to the Iranian people over their three compatriots who were killed in the storm.

 

Omani officials have tried to minimize the damage, he added.

 

Cyclone Gonu’s force has been diminishing over the past few days.
